7th International Istanbul Hardware Fair to be held in August 24-27, 2023 in a larger space with additional features

Organized by Voli Fuar, with the motto of “Growing Together” 6th International Istanbul Hardware held in the new venue with additional halls in 25,000 sqm, achieved a major success. The Istanbul Hardware Show once again prognosticated of being a milestone in the Turkish hardware industry and has achieved to entitle the internationality degree long time ago. International Istanbul Hardware Fair turned out to be a commercial arena participated by a total of 257 participants, and visited by 23,525 visitors domestic and international, as the only and unique event specialized in hardware and tools in Turkey. International Istanbul Hardware Fair opened the fair season of all international hardware fairs and become the first comprehensive exhibition of the year.

Mr. Mustafa Varank, The Minister of Industry & Technology, visited the fair in the opening day. Having accompanied by Zülküf Karadayi, Project Director, Varank stopped by all the booths of the exhibitors and had discussions with the top management of the companies. Such, Mr. Şekip Avdagiç, President of the Executive Board, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, also visited the exhibition on the last day, and he also listened the challenges of the participants about the industry along with Karadayi.

Last, but not the least, the international purchasing delegations, conquered the fair. Delegations from GSP-2 and Gastroprom, two subsidiaries of Gazprom, the largest natural gas provider globally and top company of Russia, have marked 6th International Istanbul Hardware Fair on the 3rd and 4th days. Total hardware and tools purchase of these companies is estimated over 5 billion rubles globally. Following a brief presented by Yusuf Okçu, International Sales and Marketing Manager, International Istanbul Hardware Fair, the delegation visited all companies in their product range that they already have decided to supply.

Committing their motto, International Istanbul Hardware Fair, keep growing. 7th edition of the International Istanbul Hardware Fair, which has a world-class dynamism in innovation, novelty and diversity, will be held in 24-27 August 2023. Organizer Voli Fuar decided to hold the exhibition in a larger space of about 45,000 sqm with the addition of Halls 4 and 8,. The organizers will dedicate Hall 8 to Occupational Health & Safety Industry on 8,450 sqm in the upcoming edition.

Bulten works with Polestar on development of climate-neutral electric car

Bulten has begun a collaboration with Polestar on the development project Polestar 0, which aims to build a climate-neutral electric car by 2030.

The Polestar 0 project was officially announced in 2021, and aims to create a climateneutral electric car by the year 2030, by eliminating emissions in the supply chain. Bulten’s contribution will be the delivery of climate-neutral and highly functional fasteners. This can be achieved through a combination of energy-efficient materials and processes, as well as renewable energy supply throughout the value chain.

“We are truly honored to be part of the Polestar 0 project, and to assist one of our customers in developing a truly climate-neutral vehicle. We take our sustainability work extremely seriously, and see this as an opportunity to share our knowledge, but also to learn from the other partners involved in the project,” says Anders Nyström, President and CEO of Bulten Group.

V-Tex Wood Screw a Type of Screw for Hard Wood

Rexlen Corporation, which specializes in automotive, electronics, and mechanical fastener has recently taken another leap forward to a new industry sector.

The recently released and patented “V-Tex Thread for Wood” (V-Tex) is Rexlen’s official entry announcement into the household & DIY markets.

Distinctive Structure Featuring Excellent Functions

“V-Tex” wood screws offer three kinds of minor diameters, which (sorted by value from large to small) are cutting ribs, shank, and chip recesses. After its sharp-point drill drills into the material, the cutting ribs will twist off fibers to create a larger hole diameter and the special cutting teeth on threads will cut off wood fibers.

Then, the chip recesses offer extra space for dust to reduce drilling resistance, facilitating the assembly/engagement/fastening of wood materials and revealing excellent functionality. “V-Tex” is a type of screw for hard wood featuring both cutting and quick drilling and fastening.

3 Major Features of “V-Tex”
- Low Driving Torque In a test using European hard wood, “V-Tex” features the driving torque lower than the other brands, giving users more labor-saving fastening experience.
- Low Drilling Time Fastening can be completed within 0.72 second, which is almost on pair with other European leading brands in the same test. This will save a lot of drilling time and enhance work efficiency for users.
- Strong Pull-Out Value Be it the pull-out force test or the tensile strength test, V-Tex wood screws have proven to function to the same levels as those of products made by other European leading manufacturers. After fastening is completed, it won’t become loose easily. It is not only easy to use, but can also be applied to maximize the work efficiency.

Green plugs made of natural resources

Sustainability can also be practised in the field of fastenings, as demonstrated by an innovative product range by the fischer Group of Companies. fischer GreenLine plugs consist of at least 50 per cent renewable resources and are particularly low-emission. fischer GreenLine plugs are made of ecologically produced plastic and consist of at least 50 per cent renewable resources. This has been confirmed by the independent testing and certification body DIN CERTCO/TÜV Rhineland, which has classified the plugs in the BIOBASED 50-85% category. Castor oil made from the seed of the castor bean is used to produce the plastic components of fischer’s GreenLine fixing solutions. Tests examining the load level and long-term behaviour demonstrated that the green plug offers the same performance and load-bearing capacity as the grey classic. Six green plugs are currently available.

With FIS GREEN, fischer offers an injection mortar with biobased components including materials with various functions: reactive resins, fillers, additives, plasticisers and thermoplastic polymers. Tests show that it achieves the same performance as the petrochemical-based original. DIN CERTCO confirms its composition of natural and renewable resources. The FIS GREEN has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) from the Institute of Construction and Environment (IBU) as a data basis for an ecological building assessment. The increased environmental health and improved occupational protection through the reduced emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) certify the product’s classification in the French A+ “very low in emissions” emission class.

Castor oil made from the seed of the castor bean is used to produce the plastic components of fischer’s GreenLine fixing solutions. These materials do not compete with food and fodder or their respective crop areas.

Six green fischer plugs are currently available: UX Green for universal applications, SX Green with 4-way expansion, GK Green for plasterboard, the hammerfix N Green, GB Green for a particularly good hold in aerated concrete and FID Green for thermal bridge-free installation in insulation materials.

The International Hardware Fair Cologne launches satellite event

The new event “powered by EISENWARENMESSE” will be held from 5-6 May 2023 at Fiera di Bergamo

Koelnmesse brings the approved trade fair model of EISENWARENMESSE to Italy by launching International Hardware Fair Italy. The new international project for the European market will provide a "home" in odd years to the world of hardware, building, DIY, outdoor and gardening, safety, colour, electrical and industrial supplies. “Our decision to launch International Hardware Fair Italy is in line with our strategy to strengthen our global portfolio while responding to the growing demand in the Italian market” according to Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH.

EJOT withdraws from business in Russia

Sale of the national company Wostok

After a lengthy review, the management of the EJOT Group, in consultation with the Advisory Board, has decided to withdraw from the Russian business. In view of the great suffering and the unbelievable destruction caused by the Russian aggressors in Ukraine, there will be no economic "business as usual" in the near future.

In all these considerations we have to take into account that we have a duty of care towards our 70 colleagues of the EJOT subsidiary in Wostok and that we also fulfil this duty - as far as we are able to do so in this difficult situation. This problem is faced by many of the Western companies represented in Russia and thus model solutions crystallise, which are often pursued after weighing up the advantages and disadvantages.

One of these solutions is the sale of the EJOT company in Russia to the local management. Its advantage is the possibility of securing the employment of the Russian employees for a longer period of time. To this end, we have held the necessary talks and completed the sale of EJOT Wostok.

For this purpose, we have allowed the national company EJOT Wostok the use of trademark rights for the contract period, e.g. for the further distribution of the anchors produced by Wostok in Russia for the fastening of thermal insulation. Thus, deliveries to Russia by companies of the EJOT Group will now also end. In addition, we have negotiated contractual buy-back arrangements which should enable us to re-enter the market in the event of a fundamental change in Russian policy. Whether this can happen in this way, we cannot foresee today.

FM approval for EJOT flat roof products

A wide range of EJOT flat roof fasteners has been tested and approved for use by the American FM Approvals testing institute in combination with various types of roofing membranes. The necessary tests for this approval essentially correspond to the European approval ETA and confirm the safety, reliability and durability of the EJOT flat roof fasteners. The FM approval is a further step for the worldwide use of the products.

The background: In Europe, fasteners are usually tested on the basis of an EEAS and thus approved for use with all roofing membranes. However, the American FM Approvals testing institute, which is connected to the global insurance company FM Global, tests the entire system consisting of fastener, substructure, insulation material and roof sheet in an individual test. A comprehensive series of tests with various fastener/roofing membrane combinations has now been approved by FM Approvals.

An increasing number of investors and building owners in Europe are demanding the American quality certificate (FM Approvals Standard 4470). FM approval can be relevant for construction projects of internationally operating companies. These are already required in the tender in order to comply with FM Global's insurance standards.
