  • EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE moved to September 2022

Posted in Fairs and exhibitions, Fastener distribution, Fastener suppliers, Fasteners manufacturers on Jan 24, 2022

One-time postponement to the fall will ensure maximum participation from exhibitors and visitors including vital Asian sales and manufacturing markets “As the world’s leading trade fair for the hardware industry, our aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the global market and bring together suppliers and buyers from all over the world. With this in mind, we together with the associations and exhibitors have decided to hold the EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE from 25 to 28 September 2022, instead of the originally scheduled dates of 6 to 9 March 2022,” announced Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, Oliver Frese, in Cologne today.

Since the pandemic situation continues to develop dynamically worldwide and strict travel restrictions are expected in March, especially for important Asian overseas markets, this scenario is a win-win for everyone: Exhibitors can plan for September with a longer lead time and look forward to the usual international audience, including from Asia. Visitors can look forward to a renowned group of participants and an attractive event programme shaped by a high number of exhibiting companies.

“With the Anuga Food Fair and International Dental Show (IDS) in the fall, we proved that trade fairs with Koelnmesse’s hygiene and safety concept are once again possible at an international level and can be carried out safely for everyone. Furthermore, our customers were very pleased with the business activities at these events,” pointed out Oliver Frese. “However, certain industry-specific conditions must be in place in order to fully leverage the power of personal exchange at an international trade show. In the case of EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE, this power will be significantly greater in September thanks to the participation of the Asian market.”

The Asian manufacturing and sales market plays an important role in the hardware industry. Many Asian countries have again identified Germany and large parts of Europe as a risk area due to the generally high incidence figures, and travelling from these countries will be difficult well until spring. Based on the experience from 2021 and as the global vaccination campaign progresses, the situation should look completely different in September 2022.

The decision to postpone the EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE was therefore made independently of the situation of other spring trade fairs in Koelnmesse’s portfolio, which have considerably different exhibitor and visitor structures in some cases.

    Full support from the industry

“The industry needs a strong EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR to build long-term success,” commented Wolfgang J. Kirchhoff, Chairman of the Advisory Board and Managing Director of Witte Tools. “If the conditions for this are better in September than in March, then postponing the date is the only logical and correct decision for the industry and the trade fair.”

"The German tool industry is strongly export-oriented. We therefore need an internationally widely attended INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR and we are confident that we will achieve this goal with the postponement,” said Managing Director of the German association of tool manufacturers (FWI) Stefan Horst regarding the postponement.

"First things first: we can continue to look forward to an INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR in 2022 and thus to an important instrument to prepare for the future in these turbulent times together as an industry. The postponement will enable all exhibiting companies to devote their full attention to the preparations for the fair after what is expected to be a hard winter," said Norbert Lindemann, Managing Director of Herstellerverband Haus & Garten e.V. (German Association of Home & Garden Manufacturers).

“Trade fairs are the lifeline of our international business activities and play an immense role in helping the pandemic-battered global economy get back on its feet. The EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR is one of the events that we always recommend our members attend. The fact that we will have to wait to see each other in Cologne again in no way diminishes the anticipation,” says John Herbert, General Secretary of the European DIY Retail Association/Global Home Improvement Network (EDRA/GHIN) on behalf of the international DIY markets.

March event is not a blueprint

Planned for a long time and ready to go – top-class informative special exhibitions and theme platforms such as the eCommerce area featuring innovative, disruptive solutions and strategies for retailers in the areas of payment, shop systems, ERP, hosting, search engine optimisation and multichannel. The digital extension EISENWARENMESSE @home will be available in September also. “Nevertheless, we do not want to just take the plans for March and use them for September: The world simply changes too quickly,” said Matthias Becker, Director of EISENWARENMESSE – INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR COLOGNE. “We will look at the current hot topics in the industry and adapt the plans accordingly.” Koelnmesse – industry trade fairs for the hardware sector: As a top international trade fair organiser, Koelnmesse is the global market leader in organising events for the hardware/ironware segment. It hosts the leading international event EISENWARENMESSE – International Hardware Fair Cologne at its trade fair grounds in Cologne, where Asia-Pacific Sourcing also showcases products, innovations and trends for homes and gardens from the Far East. In addition to the events at its Cologne headquarters, Koelnmesse is expanding its portfolio internationally in key markets: China International Hardware Show (CIHS) in Shanghai and Hardware Forum Italy in Milan are bespoke events and leading regional trade fairs. They create the foundation for sustainable, international business for their participants and bring together supply and demand within the sector with a carefully targeted approach.

  • Fastener Fair Stuttgart rebranded to Fastener Fair Global

Posted in Fairs and exhibitions, Fastener distribution, Fastener suppliers, Fasteners manufacturers, Industry 4.0 on Dec 03, 2021

New website goes live with a rebranded style and logo

Mack-Brooks Exhibitions, organiser of the show, announced the new name, logo and style for the Fastener Fair Stuttgart show, now called Fastener Fair Global. Fastener Fair Global, the International Exhibition for the Fastener and Fixing Industry taking place from 21 - 23 March 2023, at Messe Stuttgart, Germany, is now also live with a new restyled show website. Mack-Brooks Exhibitions believe that the new brand name reflects more on the international character of the exhibition, with the German show considered the flagship event of the Fastener Fair series.

Hand in hand with the name change, the logo has also been updated. Building on the existing branding, Mack-Brooks Exhibitions has reimagined the iconic double interlocking Fs and the classic yellow and blue colour palette, trading the outdated 3D look for a bolt head in a contemporary flat aesthetic. Combined with a modern typographic treatment, this change ensures readability and recognizability across all applications, from giant billboards and signage to small phone screens.

"With the new brand, we wanted to get away from a late 1990's design by refreshing its style with a more modern look. Over the years, the fastener and fixing industry has consolidated industry 4.0 into manufacturing processes and across different supply chain stages, including automation, advanced robotics, augmented reality and big data. As the leading trade exhibition for the fastening industry, Fastener Fair Stuttgart – now Fastener Fair Global - has continuously supported the industry throughout its technological advancements. Now, we thought it was time to adapt the logo to a new digital era, as the old logo did also not fit the purpose of preserving consistency between traditional and digital advertising. Therefore we opted for a simpler and more iconic design. In order to guarantee brand recognition, we kept Fastener Fair Global in a distinctive blue and yellow colour palette, but with more saturated colours that have a stronger visual appeal." says Liljana Goszdziewski, Portfolio Director of the European Fastener Fairs on behalf of the organiser Mack-Brooks Exhibitions.

To view the new Fastener Fair Global website, please visit www.fastenerfairglobal.com

Fastener Fair Global is the global flagship exhibition of the Fastener Fair brand. The show is the world's leading meeting place for the fastener and fixing industry. It is part of a series of targeted trade events for the fastener and fixing industry, including Fastener Fair Italy, Fastener Fair India, Fastener Fair Mexico and Fastener Fair USA.

  • CONDAT RECEIVES THE PLATINUM MEDAL ECOVADIS

Posted in Award, Industry 4.0, Innovation, Lubricants on Nov 19, 2021

Condat, international specialist in industrial lubricants for more than 165 years, has obtained the "Platinum" level recognition on the EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform. With this result, Condat is now part of the TOP 1% of the best rated companies in the world by EcoVadis.

    CONDAT_certifie platinum ECOVADIS.jpg

    Committed to responsible performance

Initiated several decades ago, Condat's responsible commitment is based on one of the Group's core values: BUILD TO LAST. Guided by this historical value, the company has been pursuing a long-term strategy since 1854 that contributes greatly to its longevity. Condat is thus one of the precursors of the development of industrial lubricants with reduced environmental impact, and launched more than 20 years ago its first biodegradable lubricants. Anchored in strong human values, the family group is structured around an assertive social policy.

In 2018, Condat went further in its CSR approach by joining the international EcoVadis platform. Its CSR performance is evaluated each year by an independent body according to 21 criteria divided into 4 themes: Environment – HR and Human Rights – Business Ethics – Responsible Purchasing. These CSR assessments are based on authentic evidence and are internationally recognised. Initially silver, Condat progresses until obtaining in October 2021 the 'Platinum' level, the highest distinction awarded by EcoVadis.

The company's objective is to reduce its ecological footprint and guide its organization towards sustainable value creation that takes into account social and environmental issues. It integrates, among other things, the Sustainable Development Goals at each stage of the life of its products, as evidenced by its unique system of self-evaluation of its eco-designed offer: the Lubriscore®. Condat also wants to influence its entire value chain, and relies on a collective of women and men involved to support customers and partners towards responsible performance, in a spirit of co-development.

An award for the entire Condat Group

The Platinum medal was awarded by EcoVadis to all the subsidiaries of the Condat Group. Indeed, if the group exists since 1854 in France, it has gradually developed internationally to favor customer proximity, with locations in the United States, China and Brazil. The group then diversified into the Health-Beauty market, through Laboratories specializing in the manufacture and distribution of organic and natural products (Laboratoires BEA and Sicobel) which today offer different ranges of cosmetic products (Brands BcomBio, Placentor...) and other products (Brands Green Tribu, Solens ...) dedicated to well-being through a varied offer open to the greatest number.

  • EJOT: Facing the challenges of the digital world

Posted in Industry 4.0 on Jul 12, 2021

15 shareholders founded DIGITALUM Wittgenstein Ggmbh

Wittgenstein/Bad Berleburg. Organizing digital transformation, realizing the promotion of digital skills as a cross sectional task, and developing perspectives for a strategic implementation in our area: These are the goals of the DIGITALUM Wittgenstein project. 15 partners met in the community center in Bad Berleburg and founded the DIGITALUM Wittgenstein gGmbH.

The joint project is about digitalization and new learning. DIGITALUM Wittgenstein is the local future workshop, it makes global development very tangible for our region: regardless of age and previous education, all people will have the chance to educate and train themselves digitally. The goal is a long-lasting digitalization for the benefit of the entire region. The project is supported by strong partners from business and society.

The formal foundation of the non-profit DIGITALUM Wittgenstein gGmbH by notary Dr. Sabina Bald was followed by the first shareholders' meeting. Dirk Pöppel (REGUPOL BSW) was elected as chairman of the supervisory board, Angelika Wetzstein (EJOT) is the deputy chairwoman.

"Digitalization is certainly not a panacea," said Dirk Pöppel in an initial address, in which he also referred to the downsides of progress, for example through psychological stress, fears and risks related to cybercrime. Overall, however, he sees a ray of hope in the project: "It makes a lot of sense to make a common approach to the challenges and opportunities of the digital world. Increase synergies, experience community, turn ignorance and frustration into a correct use of digitalization - these are just a few goals. May it become different through the DIGITALUM, may it become even better!"

The idea for the DIGITALUM and the voluntary preparatory work essentially go back to three people who will continue to work for the project in the future. "We have been lucky to have a special tercet here," emphasized Dirk Pöppel. His sincere thanks went to Andreas Kurth, "who is known for combining creative thinking with consistently good workmanship.” Together with Jun.-Professor Dr. Thomas Ludwig (University of Siegen), who provided the essential theoretical and scientific impetus for the project, he is considered the initiator of the DIGITALUM. The team is supported by Winfried Schwarz, who contributes many years of experience in the field of administrations and as a lawyer, as well as managing director of the Bildungszentrum Wittgenstein (Wittgenstein Education Center).

They will all continue to be the movers and shakers in the development of DIGITALUM. In the management Andreas Kurth will be responsible for products and services, marketing and public relations, sales and customer relations, technology & infrastructure and quality. Winfried Schwarz will be responsible for finances, law, data protection, compliance, insurance, human resources, political contacts as well as funding & grants.

The scientific part continues to be the responsibility of Thomas Ludwig, who informed the shareholders about the further project steps: DIGITALUM plans to offer the first formats at the beginning of 2022, initially in existing rooms. A new DIGITALUM building is already being planned. The project has already been awarded the first star in the REGIONALE 2025 in South Westphalia. The application for the second and third REGIONALE star is currently underway, and further project development will be based on this award and the associated funding.

  • FISCHER: All-in-one systems for multifunctional façades

Posted in Fastener distribution, Industry 4.0 on Jul 07, 2021

The fischer façade systems business unit of the fischer Group of Companies offers innovative and high-quality all-in-one solutions for the secure and aesthetic installation of rear-ventilated façades. The company also offers a wide range of services, as the fischer specialists support plan-ners and façade builders with consultation and calculation services from the briefing and installation stage across all construction phases until the project’s successful comple-tion.

Building envelopes must meet ever growing requirements. Rear-ventilated façades meanwhile have to fulfil increasingly complex requirements in terms of sustainability, safety, protec-tion, air conditioning and a distinguished appearance. fischer fa-çade systems guarantee a positive ecological balance through high energy savings and a consistent circular flow economy, a long service life plus the advantage of creative freedom.

    Creative freedom and functionality

The visible or concealed fischer fastenings are suitable for all standard cladding materials for rear-ventilated façades and fulfil every aesthetic requirement. The modern façade technology also provides a healthy indoor climate, as rear-ventilated rooms constantly dissipate the moisture from the structure and living spaces. The fischer façade systems provide additional benefits such as simple, easy and fast installation, low maintenance requirements, a long service life, effective protection against weather conditions and high energy efficiency. In addition to a permanent and secure hold and efficient thermal insulation, the functional and technical advantages also include the option to install a fireproof barrier and non-flammable insulating material, integrated lightning protection through a conductive substruc-ture as well as improved soundproofing.

A wide range of substructure solutions

Fischer’s all-in-one system of compatible products with tested and approved individual components includes a comprehensive range of substructure solutions. With the acquisition of BWM Fassadensysteme GmbH from Leinfelden-Echterdingen in 2018, the portfolio of the fischer Group of Companies expanded considerably. fischer now offers various substructures to fasten rear-ventilated façades from a single source. The solutions range from visible fastenings for lightweight panels using rivets or drilling screws to hook solutions for façade cassettes as well as aesthetically appealing concealed fastenings with the fischer Zykon panel anchors FZP II. The comprehensive range for alu-minium supporting structures features systems that enable ex-tensive prefabrication, simple application and fast installation. These also include substructure solutions that have been spe-cially tailored to the problem areas of rear-ventilated structures, such as variable systems and systems with thermal isolation to the benefit of improved energy efficiency and sustainability. The ATK 601 stand-off anchor construction fulfils high requirements for fully pre-insulated façades or for the renovation of ETICS systems with rear-ventilated façades and ZeLa brackets. Both supporting structures have been declared “certified passive house components” by the independent Passivhaus Institute certification body. The certificate contains all parameters (punc-tual thermal transmission coefficients) and documents the unique position of the supporting structures compared to conventional wall constructions available on the market. The ATK 601 and the ZeLa bracket provide added benefits with their high planning reliability and broad range of applications.

The right solution for any fastening application

The façade panels can be visibly fastened using rivets or drilling screws, while ceramic tiles can be fastened with brackets. An-gled metal cassettes can be attached to the façade with bolt suspensions. The fischer undercut anchors provide a form-fit fastening without expansion pressure in the conical undercut drill hole and are concealed when viewed from the building’s exterior. The undercut anchor system is completed by the well-engineered and compatible drilling and installation technology as well as additional accessories. Thanks to its broad range of undercut anchors, fischer is able to attach almost any type of cladding material to the façade. It is therefore possible to use façade panels made out of natural stone from a thickness of 20 mm, single-pane and laminated safety glass from a glass thick-ness of 8 mm, as well as ceramic tiles, fibre cement and HPL plates from a thickness of 8 mm. Individual panels or even all panels can subsequently be exchanged with ease through the use of hook-on profiles. Even reveal panels can be fastened easily and with a high degree of flexibility. The varied panel thicknesses can be compensated through the use of stand-off anchor types. This method also allows the realisation of an ele-ment façade as well as factory prefabrication. The long-established technology of the fischer undercut an-chors enables the bending stress of the panel to be reduced by up to 50 per cent compared to standard edge fixings (mandrel, kerf cut and/or plug mandrel fixings or bracket solutions) through the statically adjustable position of the anchor in the 1/5 point on the reverse of the panel. This achieves lower slab bending moments and higher load-bearing capacities and allows more freedom during planning and execution, while better use can be made of the respective technical material properties. The opti-mised static system and increased breakout forces allow larger-sized panels of the same thickness to be used in comparison to edge fastenings. Thinner and therefore lighter panels can also be used, which are economical to purchase and transport, thereby making installation easier. The fischer façade systems business unit works in close prox-imity to markets and customers, subsidiaries and local partners across the globe. SystemTec and BWM façade systems offer compatible solutions and all-in-one systems for a market seg-ment of the future.

Fischer all-in-one systems for rear-ventilated façades include compat-ible products with tested and approved individual components and a comprehensive range of substructure solutions.

The new manufacturing facility is located in Radziechowy-Wieprz, close to Bulten’s existing facilities in Bielsko-Biala and Wilkowice. The total investment, including land, building and production equipment, amounts to approximately EUR 31 million, of which about EUR 3.5 million is for the already purchased land.
