15 shareholders founded DIGITALUM Wittgenstein Ggmbh
Wittgenstein/Bad Berleburg. Organizing digital transformation, realizing the promotion of digital skills as a cross sectional task, and developing perspectives for a strategic implementation in our area: These are the goals of the DIGITALUM Wittgenstein project. 15 partners met in the community center in Bad Berleburg and founded the DIGITALUM Wittgenstein gGmbH.
The joint project is about digitalization and new learning. DIGITALUM Wittgenstein is the local future workshop, it makes global development very tangible for our region: regardless of age and previous education, all people will have the chance to educate and train themselves digitally. The goal is a long-lasting digitalization for the benefit of the entire region. The project is supported by strong partners from business and society.
The formal foundation of the non-profit DIGITALUM Wittgenstein gGmbH by notary Dr. Sabina Bald was followed by the first shareholders' meeting. Dirk Pöppel (REGUPOL BSW) was elected as chairman of the supervisory board, Angelika Wetzstein (EJOT) is the deputy chairwoman.
"Digitalization is certainly not a panacea," said Dirk Pöppel in an initial address, in which he also referred to the downsides of progress, for example through psychological stress, fears and risks related to cybercrime. Overall, however, he sees a ray of hope in the project: "It makes a lot of sense to make a common approach to the challenges and opportunities of the digital world. Increase synergies, experience community, turn ignorance and frustration into a correct use of digitalization - these are just a few goals. May it become different through the DIGITALUM, may it become even better!"
The idea for the DIGITALUM and the voluntary preparatory work essentially go back to three people who will continue to work for the project in the future. "We have been lucky to have a special tercet here," emphasized Dirk Pöppel. His sincere thanks went to Andreas Kurth, "who is known for combining creative thinking with consistently good workmanship.” Together with Jun.-Professor Dr. Thomas Ludwig (University of Siegen), who provided the essential theoretical and scientific impetus for the project, he is considered the initiator of the DIGITALUM. The team is supported by Winfried Schwarz, who contributes many years of experience in the field of administrations and as a lawyer, as well as managing director of the Bildungszentrum Wittgenstein (Wittgenstein Education Center).
They will all continue to be the movers and shakers in the development of DIGITALUM. In the management Andreas Kurth will be responsible for products and services, marketing and public relations, sales and customer relations, technology & infrastructure and quality. Winfried Schwarz will be responsible for finances, law, data protection, compliance, insurance, human resources, political contacts as well as funding & grants.
The scientific part continues to be the responsibility of Thomas Ludwig, who informed the shareholders about the further project steps: DIGITALUM plans to offer the first formats at the beginning of 2022, initially in existing rooms. A new DIGITALUM building is already being planned. The project has already been awarded the first star in the REGIONALE 2025 in South Westphalia. The application for the second and third REGIONALE star is currently underway, and further project development will be based on this award and the associated funding.
